Wojo heavily recruiting Henry Ellenson's future son
According to multiple sources within Marquette’s athletic department, men’s basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski has extended a scholarship offer to (Name Unknown) Ellenson. (Name Unknown) is the yet-to-be-born son of Henry Ellenson, 2015 Marquette power forward and recent NBA draftee.
“It’s all about making contact with them early,” said assistant men’s basketball coach Stan Johnson. “We know for a fact that Kentucky and Duke are already recruiting for the class of 2047, and that’s where we need to be if we’re going to compete on the national stage.”
While the move has widespread support among Marquette fans, collegiate scouts have had mixed opinions. Multiple scouting reports have said that future baby Ellenson has incredible potential, but his game is “raw.”
“There are a ton of question marks here,” said Evan Daniels, the director of basketball recruiting for scout.com. “We’re still waiting for this kid’s body to develop. We’re actually still waiting for this kid to be born. And there’s always the chance that he could just say ‘screw this’ and take up violin.”
Wojciechowski seems to be moving ahead with his recruitment of (Name Unknown) Ellenson despite these concerns. Henry Ellenson confirms that Wojo calls him multiple times per week to inquire about (Name Unknown’s) status. The attention is flattering, but also overbearing, says the older Ellenson.
“I’m trying to get ready for my first NBA season, and I can’t concentrate because I keep getting all these calls from Wojo,” says Ellenson. “Every time it’s the same thing: ‘When are you going to meet a nice girl? When are you going to settle down? When are you going to give me a five-star recruit?’ It’s a little much.”
The number of open scholarship spots for (Name Unknown) Ellenson’s freshman class year is still unknown. However, speculation persists that Wojo will vacate someone else’s scholarship – probably Wally Ellenson’s son’s – to make room if necessary. (Name Unknown) is expected to make his college decision sometime in the next 20 to 35 years.
