Marquette Spirit Shop to sell spirits and tobacco
MILWAUKEE — Amid declining sales, the Marquette Spirit Shop announce Friday morning that it will begin to sell spirits and tobacco.
“Our focal point is changing,” store manager Stephen Mills said about the recent new policy modification that will begin this Fall. "Students just don't seem to be as interested in $50 ties and $120 sweatshirts anymore."
The Marquette Spirit Shop will house of some of students’ favorites: Burnett’s, Svedka, and PBR. Students will be able to use Marquette cash and meal swipes for their transactions.
“It’s about connecting with the Marquette community and more importantly, welcoming potential students,” Mills said. “Nothing says, ‘I failed my bio exam and need quick escape’ quite like a cheap handle of vodka.”
As now, there is no word as to how this new policy will be affected by the tabacco-free campus, but sources close to the university say that it will never turned down an opportunity for additional revenue.
“We will include a more diverse range of products once we get the ball rolling," Mills said. "This is just the beginning,”
